Ignatia House’s Small Group Home Provides Refuge for Women Recovering From Alcoholism
Perma-Seal, the most trusted basement waterproofing and foundation repair experts serving the greater Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana, has partnered with Ignatia House, a small group home for women recovering from alcoholism and substance abuse, to permanently fix the flooding and drainage issues within their basement.
“We knew our basement was in need of major repair work to make it a clean, safe space for the women of Ignatia House so we called Perma-Seal. Through our conversations with Perma-Seal, a solution was found and the work got started,” said Ann Shanahan, Ignatia House, Ignatia Foundation Board of Directors Treasurer. “As a nonprofit, Ignatia House relies on individual and community donations, and we will be forever grateful for Perma-Seal’s generosity.”
With Perma-Seal’s financial support, Ignatia House can move forward with plans to create a healthy, dry space to further serve the women of Ignatia House. Once completed, the basement will include a learning lab with computers and a lounge space where women can take business training classes, conduct job searches, paint, meditate, and unwind.
“After my initial visit with Ignatia House, I knew this was not a typical project. There was extensive work to be done, and I knew without Perma-Seal’s financial support it wouldn’t happen” said Jim Gannon, Perma-Seal Sales Consultant. “I am proud to be a part of an organization that goes above and beyond for their employees and customers, but more importantly, for the broader community.”
“Through the Perma-Seal Community Foundation, we are able to support many root-cause issues, including the amazing work of Ignatia House. The services Ignatia House provides and the women who begin their sober living journey there are truly inspiring,” said Laura Ann Spencer, Perma-Seal, Executive Vice President. “I am so proud of our company and the people in it who clearly exhibit our core value, ‘We are compassionate.'”
Perma-Seal’s driving purpose – to make the world a better place for Tribal Members, Customers, Partners and Communities they serve – is supported by their six Core Values. One of the cornerstones of, ‘We are compassionate,’ means seeking opportunities to use their time, talent, and means to improve the quality of life for friends, neighbors, and communities.
