DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — Loaves & Fishes Community Services proudly welcomes the addition of new members to their Board of Directors including Laura Ann Spencer, Executive Vice President of Perma-Seal Basement Systems and Foundation Repair. Loaves & Fishes’ vision is to end hunger in the community, with their focus on Chicagoland suburbs.
For over ten years, Ms. Spencer has tirelessly helped Perma-Seal develop core values, mission and value statements as well as establish an internal company culture. She consistently works towards implementing these ambitious values within the Tribe while emphasizing: “We are compassionate and give back to our community.” She holds these important values close to her heart, and most recently spearheaded an effort at Perma-Seal’s Annual Picnic that generated over $3,000 in donations for the Loaves & Fishes organization.
One of her favorite quotes reads: “Every time you eat or drink, you are either feeding disease or fighting it.” She spreads the word to be health-conscious throughout the Perma-Seal Tribe. Alongside Ms. Spencer’s own values, Loaves & Fishes aims to provide a broad array of healthy and diverse food options to their clients.
Ms. Spencer particularly enjoys the opportunity be part of an organization that distributes food to those in need, as well as provides services that deal with root cause issues in an effort to eradicate hunger. She looks forward to assisting the Nutrition Advisory Council, which focuses on improving the health and well being of Loaves & Fishes’ clients and works to offer healthy food choices.
Not only does Loaves & Fishes help to feed low-income families, but they also work to empower and encourage families to make healthier choices when it comes to nutrition. Their mission is to provide food and leadership in the community by uniting and mobilizing resources to empower people to be self-sufficient.
